Only names of American and/or European descent are likely to be in our database. Names that are not of American/European descent or are artificially created will not be in our database, and will have an origin of "unique". If we encounter a name that comes back as being "unique", we will, at no extra charge, conduct a basic search of the Internet to determine the origin of the name, if possible. If a name comes back with a "Unique" origin and a history can't be found on the Internet, the software automatically creates flattering attributes for the name.

If you know a name will not be in our database (i.e., it is artificially created or not American/European), you can help us by putting its origin/meaning in the comments box.

NOTE ABOUT COMPOUND NAMES: If you (or the gift recipient) have a compound name, such as Ann-Margaret, Jim-Bob, or Mary-Kate, the origin will be based on the first part of the compound name. Thus, for Ann-Margaret, the name meaning will be based on Ann. This will also be the case for any compound name that is not separated by a hyphen or space. Even though the meaning is based on the first part of the name, the name will still be printed according to how you enter it in the Gift Spelling box.

NOTE ABOUT KEY CHAINS AND OTHER SMALL ITEMS: Please note that if you are purchasing a key chain size or similarly small print, not all information will be printed as shown in the example above. To show you how the same information might appear on a key chain, please click the images below. Note that despite the size they may appear on your screen, the image is printed in a small 2" x 3" space, so the text must be larger to be readable. Also note that how much of the photo's subject is overlapped by text depends on the photo itself. We will endeavor to minimize text overlapping photo subjects, but we cannot guarantee results.
